Well, I shook and I shuttered
Oh what's the other thing that I felt?
When I ditched on this island
I swore I'd keep the finer thing for myself
But a kink in a hose says,
"All that does grow,
without water, will die"
What a typical me,
to just stare at my feet
And hope they stay dry
But I drank from the well
And I saved up like hell
And what did I buy?
I guess I never was much
For all that reading and such
So I bought myself time
And then there's the 'me'
With a red handkerchief
All full of my clothes
And it's tied to a branch
And slung right over my back
So everyone knows
And they'll know
That I no longer require your presence
To feel at home.
So I came on my own accord
I wasn't bored or just towing that line
I found a hole in the fence
And as you would've guessed
It was green on that side.
You can dance, I can tell
And I would if I felt
That'd it all be alright
I guess I never was much
For all that moving and once
I sat down I felt fine
But then there's the 'me'
With a red handkerchief
Folded on my shelf
Held down by a stack
Of books I borrowed way back
When I needed some help
But now I'm helping myself
And I no longer require your hand
For mine to be held
I've never felt better and
I've never felt better,
Thanks for asking
